1st Year All The Way
December 8

by Micah Herring

This year Liberty started a flag football team for the elementary boys.  Mr. Coffee, the 6th grade teacher here at Liberty, was the coach of the new team.  For a first year team, where most of the players had never played organized football, they did an amazing job. They made it to the playoffs and won, which meant that they got to play in the championship game against Anaheim Vineyard!  They lost the championship game 28-6, but they still gave a great effort. Even though they lost, it was a huge accomplishment to make it all the way to the championship game in their very first year. Most of the players on the team really enjoyed their season. Evan Garner, a 5th grader team member, said of the big game, “It was fun!”  Another 5th grader, Ethan Olguin, said of the season, “It was exciting.”  It was a huge success and Liberty really should have an elementary flag football team again next year.

Elementary Team Dominates in Second Game
October 22
by Heather Parsons

The new elementary football team, coached by Mr. Coffee, was going to play a game on Wednesday October 6th, but unfortunately the opposite team didn’t even bother to show up! So the boys had to wait a little longer than expected to score their first win. On Tuesday October 13th, the elementary team played against Independence Christian School. The final score was 24-0 and the game was played furiously. “ We played really good, and hopefully will win most of our upcoming games”, says 6th grade player, Anthony Sennella. Their coach said, “Ever since we started, the team has done well in communicating, grabbing lots of flags and pressuring the quarterback.”  Levon Lester and Noah Gane scored some touchdowns this game, and everyone played great as a team. As Gane threw a 40-yard pass to Lester, he rushed the ball three times. On defense, during the fourth quarter, Evan Garner and Levon Lester grabbed many flags to keep the other team scoreless.
