Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.

This is my fourth year teaching here at Liberty. With the exception of 2 1/2 years in
(pictured on the left). Before coming to work at Liberty as a teacher I worked for a couple of years as an archaeologist. My primary job was the excavation and processing of prehistoric human burials. The picture on the right was actually taken in
My interests are grouped into two camps which consume my time when not teaching. The first camp includes such outdoor activities as backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking, mountaineering and canyoneering. Basically as long as the activity is in a wilderness setting and that activity doesn't include a motor, I'm game (for example I enjoy kayaking but I do not enjoy power crafts, I enjoy skiing but I do not enjoy snowmobiles). The picture at left was taken of me on 18,500' Mt

My other area of interest includes participating in the never ending dialogue going on between science and theology. One of the most interesting, and most important questions I believe one could ask is, "What role (if any) should science play in the interpretation of scripture and/or theology?" After 2 1/2 years of studying that question in graduate school I still don't believe that I have found a sufficient answer, but I am working on one in the little free time I have. Two other questions that intrigue me and that have developed from my studies in the field of science and religion (and of which I hope to develop more in writing projects as I seek answers) are 1.) What does it mean to cultivate the earth in light of Genesis 1:28, 2:15, the subsequent rebellion in Genesis 3 and our call as a redeemed people? 2.) How should a holistic view of the Gospel affect every aspect of my life?
