2010-2011 Big Splashes in our Small Pond:

2010-2011 brought some great musical, cultural exchanges
to our chapel services. The Biola Honors String Quartet
was just one of those events.
We also had Immanuel Christian High School
Choir from Reedley, CA, who led our school into
a wonderful worship experience.
Under the direction of Dr. James Melton,
The Vanguard University Singers and Band also
sang and talked about how there are
"greater things to be done in this city."
Independent recording artist, Elizabeth Hunnicutt
sang about how God cares for us and is big enough
to handle even the tough questions of our lives

This spring, our Praise Band and Drama teams (I call them PB&D)
have gone to several area schools to present
"Jesus Was There When..." a concert reflecting
Christ at work in the lives of our teens.
Here is a clip of highlights:

This spring, our Junior High Choir went to the
ACSI Choral Festival in Long Beach. Our choir
this year is very appreciative for the opportunity to
listen to other choirs and build their harmony skills

We once again hosted the ACSI Junior High Handbell Festival
with special guest adjudicator, Rima Greer,
a well-known handbell artist and arranger
2010's favorite Christmas Song
Congratulations Praise Band guys!!!

Our handbell groups were invited to perform
at the Admiral's Club at LAX
(Los Angeles International Airport)
We all had a wonderful time (and a great luncheon too)

Handbells also performed at our local hot-spot,
Bella Terra for a concert with a "snowy" grand finale

Here, we were chosen to be the entertainment for
the Huntington Harbour Philharmonic Society's
annual Christmas dinner. The Society has
already been very supportive of our school this
year with a music grant to help with our fine arts finances
2009-2010 Big Splashes:

Our Seniors got together and formed a
special handbell group to perform at graduation.
It was one of the highlights of the evening.

Crosspoint Baptist Church's Kid's Choir performed
for a special chapel service in the spring.

I got to take a field trip with my son's class to "the Pond."
He got to try out some gear and some of our
students made it on the Jumbotron.
2008-2009 school year highlights:

Some of our 4th-7th Grade choir members
participated in the benefit concert,
"Jammin' for Julian" on March 21st in Costa Mesa
benefitting the Dunn Family and Julian's fight with brain cancer

The March 13th Elementary Choral Festival in
Anaheim was a great success with lots of
area schools participating
(see our burgundy shirts all in a line?)

May, 2010 Mr. Whitmire was referenced in
another article about Music Teacher Careers

In April and December 2010 Liberty Christian School's Fine Arts Department
was awarded a school grant from the Huntington Harbour Philharmonic Society.
Pictured are some of the representatives from the awarding committee
along with the school recipients under the society's crest.
November 2009, Mr. Whitmire was published in a
national music magazine called "Choral Director" for
his work with festival planning. It is a round-table discussion with
two other high school directors and two college professors.

In 2008, Mr. Whitmire received an award from ACSI
for hosting festivals here on the Liberty campus since 1993

My own kids had a few things to teach me
at the end of the '09 school year at
our "Barn Raising" event

I enjoy being out with the kids each day during their
recess. It's a great time to get to know them
I also am involved with Summer Day Camp
here at Liberty Christian School - It's
a great way to spend the summer.
